Appearing before Garissa chief magistrates Cosmas Maundu, Gullet defended himself saying that he did not play any direct role in contract between Jama’s government and the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in regard to the lease of seven ambulances.

“My role as the chairman was to oversight. I was not directly involved in the drafting of the agreement,” Gullet said, as quoted by KBC.

Gullet also told the court that EMS works as an independent committee and has a team that undertakes day to day activities on its behalf.

In response on whether he had counterchecked the agreement between the county government and Red Cross, Gullet said that he did not find it necessary to do so.

“There was no reason to countercheck. It was not my business,” he said.

Nathif and his co-accused tender committee members including Mohamud Hassan Mohamed, Rahma Dekow, Jawahir Keinan, Safia Mohamed, Abdi Sahal, Mohamed Hassan and are expected to be present at the court during the proceedings.
