Wajir county governor Mohamed Abdi on Friday flagged off water bowsers to supply water to drought-hit areas in the county following the persistent drought in the Northern Kenya.

Speaking at Orahey grounds, the governor urged donors and partners to assist the county in tackling the prolonged drought that left locals and livestock starving.

He said water bowsers will supply water to areas worst hit by drought within the county.

Abdi lamented that his administration can do little with the few funds it has.He noted despite that several organisations have helped, the county still needs more funds to tackle drought.

Abdi said the county has spent Sh20 million since July tackling drought.
