Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Hassan Abdi has vowed to fight and end the use and sale of illegal liquor.

He added that second generation alcohol is illegal and those involved in the business will be arrested and prosecuted.

"With the help of my officers, we have netted 16,815 litres of Chang’aa, 92,436 litres of Kangara, Busaa 25,270,second generation 9,859 litres and 47 rolls of bhang since the fight of illegal liquor started,” he said.

Speaking during Madaraka Day celebrations at 64 stadium in Eldoret town, Abdi said 1,766 people selling or consuming illegal liquor have been arrested and charged.

“I am giving a stern warning for those involved in this illegal business that they either change their business or face the wrath of the law,” he said.

He said, they will conduct regular crackdowns to ensure that illegal liquor is not sold in the county.

“I urge wananchi to be our eyes by reporting anyone involved in the sale of the second generation alcohol,” he added.
