Dida argued that there is no point of having a Judiciary whose orders are being openly disobeyed by the Executive.

Reacting to the deportation of Miguna Miguna, Dida said that the Executive has continued to undermine and disobey court orders.

“At this rate, we don’t need the Judiciary. CJ Maraga should just ask his judges to resign,” the former presidential candidate said in a tweet on Thursday.

Dida said there is no point of having institutions that are not functional, adding that the disobedience of court orders in regards to Miguna’s detention and deportation is a slap in the face of the constitution.

Miguna was deported on Wednesday night to Dubai three days after jetting back into the country following his deportation to Canada last month.

The controversial Canadian-based lawyer was denied entry into the country on grounds that he was an undocumented passenger.

Miguna’s detention and deportation have elicited sharp reactions and condemnation in the country and across the borders.

On Wednesday, High Court Judge George Odunga convicted  Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, Immigration PS Gordon Kihalangwa and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet over contempt of court.

The three defied court orders to personally produce Miguna in court on Wednesday.

Justice Odunga will sentence the three today morning even as reports emerge that Miguna will be deported back to Nairobi following an order by the United Arabs Emirates (UAE) government.

Reports in a section of media also indicate that the UAE has suspended flights from Nairobi to Dubai.
