A court in Eldoret has directed that two of the three suspects accused of abducting Form Four girls be taken to hospital for treatment.

This is after the accused' lawyer Stanly Kagunza told the court that his clients had been tortured while in police custody.

"One of my clients tells me he has broken ribs the other had his head banged against the wall and they need medical attention or we might end up without a case due to their deaths," Kagunza said.

"The accused are being denied food and have been put near a toilet in a dark place, all this is done because there are powerful forces behind the police actions," he added.

Eldoret Principal Magistrate Harrison Barasa directed that the two accused be taken to Hospital.

The third accused will, however, remain in remand pending ruling on an application seeking them to be released on bond.

A ruling will be delivered on October 24 at 2pm.

The three were arrested in Limuru last Thursday while allegedly trying to escape with the two 17-year-old girls from a local secondary school in the outskirts of Eldoret.

They were charged with abduction, defilement, indecent contact with the victims and illegal confinement.
