Authorities in Wajir will not tolerate acts of incitement before, during and after the August election Governor Ahmed Abdullahi has said.
The county chief said Wajir people are peace loving and leaders out to divide residents on clan or religious lines will face the law.
He told residents to ignore aspirants inciting them ahead of elections.
Abdullahis said voters in the county should ignore the “few people spewing and planting seeds of hatred and animosity in our midst.”
He is facing stiff competition from Mohamed Abdi who is vying on a Jubilee Party ticket.
The two leaders have been at loggerheads after reports emerged that Abdi holds a fake degree certificate from Kampala University.
The claims according to Abdi’s supporters were hatched by Abdullahi aimed at tarnishing Abdi’s name ahead of the election.
“Our lineup consists of an all-inclusive government and we have avoided the politics of clan supremacy so that the transformation of Wajir can continue through peaceful coexistence and harmony among our communities,” he said.
He picked Ahmed Nunow as his running mate.
Abdullahi remain ODM’s point man in North Eastern region.
He is expected to steer opposition campaigns in the region whose elected leaders have been warming up to Jubilee Party.
