Public officials abetting corruption in their offices will personally be held accountable for the loss of funds, Attorney General Githu Muigai has warned.
Through a statement that was read by State Law Office Director of Legal Affairs John Tuta during the opening of a workshop on responsible commission on the implementation of Chapter Six of the constitution in Nairobi Tuesday, Githu said the government will not tolerate any form of graft or unethical conduct.
The AG added that those who accept to hold public offices either through an election or appointment must be prepared to operate within the 2010 constitution and any other integrity laws.
"If you are a chief executive officer and you are tolerating corruption in your institution then you have no business being there," he said.
He added that the country will fail to achieve its 2030 vision and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals if individuals entrusted with public offices fail to uphold high integrity standards.
"All of us must appreciate that Kenya cannot achieve its vision 2030 goals and the UN Sustainable Development goals unless the men and women who are entrusted with public office uphold high standards of Integrity," he said.
