The son of slain Muslim cleric Sheikh Aboud Rogo lost his cool in court on Thursday and smashed a Reuters photographer’s camera.
Dhulkifli Aboud Rogo grabbed the camera from Joseph Okanga as he took pictures of his mother, Haniya Said Saggar. This was moments after she walked into the dock.
Haniya is to answer to terrorism charges in connection with the attack on Mombasa Central Police Station by three women on Sunday.
“Nilisema usije wewe, ondoka uende. Ondoka kabisa,” Haniya shouted at her son after the incident.
Court orderlies briefly detained the boy who walked out of the courtroom sobbing after the case commenced.
Three female terrorists who shouted they were Al Shabaab were killed during the attack. Later, three women were arrested for housing the three deceased before the attack.
The trial of the three women failed to begin on Wednesday as one is deaf and could not understand sign language.
Shukri Ali, Saida Ali and Naima Mohammed appeared in court on Tuesday but did not plead to charges of housing terrorists as they had difficulties communicating.
The DPP’s office said a Somali translator and a sign language interpreter would be provided.
