Kisii Governor,James Ongwae has announced that about 53 market centres across the County will be installed with solar-pwered street lights to ensure business people conduct busines in a secure manner to achieve the County's dream of a 24-hour economy.
Ongwae said,having the targeted market centres across the County installed with solar powered street lights,will not only facilitate traders continue with their business round the clock,but will also assure them of their security in the course of doing their daily business.
Speaking at Gusii Stadium during the marking of this year's Madaraka Day celebrations,Ongwae assured the business community in the area of security through installation of solar powered street lights to ensure business is conducted throughout the 24-hour cycle without any security hitch.
The Governor was responding to the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry(KNCCI)Kisii County Chairman,Benjamin Onkoba's appeal to the County Government to ensure all market centres across the County are supplied with street lights,Ongwae disclosed that plans were underway to have all market centres supplied with street lights in an effort to enhance security for traders in those areas.
"In response to the Chamber of Commerce Kisii County Chairman,Benjamin Onkoba,Iam assuring traders and the business community in this County of their security through installation of solar powered street lights in about 53 market centres in the next financial year,"disclosed Ongwae
Ongwae disclosed the programme has already been captured in the County's Integrated Development Plan,calling on the area residents to be patient as the County administration rolls out various development programmes in line with the Plan.
