Former Kitutu Masaba MP Abuya Abuya believes the current MP Timothy Bosire has reached the ‘heights’ of another former MP and multiparty democracy fighter, George Anyona Moseti and is destined for greater things.
Mr Bosire was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly making inciting remarks, and was arraigned in court on Friday alongside seven other colleagues to answer to the charges.
And Mr Abuya, another former critic of both the Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi regimes which earned him the infamous titles ‘Seven bearded sisters', backed the embattled MP saying he was fighting to free Kenyans from 'Moi orphans'.
“I have been following Mr Bosire and I have no doubt that he belongs to the class of Anyona Moseti. His zeal and energy shows the typical focus Mr Anyona had and it gives many Kenyans hopes,” Abuya said on Thursday.
“We are aware that some people want to take us but to the Moi era and they are undeniably orphans of Moi. Bosire is fighting such people and as his constituents, we are fully behind him on this matter. He is perhaps destined for greatness like Anyona Moseti who stood for truth,” he added.
Mr Anyona Moseti, a former political scientist and a fierce critic of former presidents the late Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi, was detained without trial under the regimes of the two leaders.
Anyona who died in 2003 in a car crash in the outskirts of Nairobi, served a total of 14 years as MP.
