Senate Deputy Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen has opposed recommendations that academic qualifications should be used as a basic requirement for leaders seeking various elective posts.

He said academic qualifications would lock out potential politicians that could impact on the Country positively.

"For example a politician like the late Mark Too complimented his little education acquired in primary education with exemplary leadership skills. What if he could be denied a chance to serve wananchi because he did not go to school?'' he wondered.

“You saw me recently in the Senate arguing that we can’t use education to lock out able leaders, I really stand for that,” added the Senate Deputy Majority Leader.

He was speaking during the burial ceremony of Mark Too, the late Kanu era nominated MP.
