The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide a strategic opportunity and an educational support framework for students.

The primary objective of the MoU is to provide the CUEA students with a chance to achieve the highest professional standards in their professional development for a career in accounting, business leadership and commercial finance.

The MoU was signed by ACCA Director Sub Saharan Africa Jamil Ampomah and Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa Prof Justus Mbae.

During the signing, Jamil Ampomah, emphasised that partnership with CUEA was in line with institutions strategy to promote and nurture the accounting education, practice and the accounting profession as well as promote the significance of accountancy amongst university students.

“Through this partnership, our primary aim is to offer an opportunity and help students to be fully fledged professionals with the required skills and competencies in finance and accounting as well as make them extremely marketable with a global profession.” Jamil said.

According to the MoU, ACCA will also offer a unique special incentive programme that will include financial exemptions for fees to facilitate and encourage progression to further students educational development. The students on the courses accredited by ACCA will be able to register with ACCA before they complete their undergraduate studies

The MoU will facilitate CUEA student access to ACCAs repository of research, information, knowledge center and digital communications. In addition, ACCA will recognise and support postgraduates who acquired their local degree on the accredited courses and postgraduates on similar accredited courses who were not previously registered with ACCA.

Through the MoU ACCA will also Connect CUEA with the ACCA global university and employer network and facilitate complimentary CV candidate postings on ACCA Careers.
