ACCA and Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) sign Strategic Partnership Agreement.
ACCA and ICPAK have signed a strategic partnership agreement which will see both bodies work on a collaborative arrangements to strengthen the accountancy profession in Kenya and globally.
Brian McEnery, ACCA’s President and Dr Patrick Ngumi, CEO of ICPAK signed the agreement on behalf of both bodies.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Brasilia, Brian McEnery said: "As professional bodies, both ACCA and ICPAK share a mutually respected relationship and this agreement strengthens this relationship for the benefit of our members and students. We both believe in the development of the accountancy profession locally and internationally, and we work to promote the public interest remit of the profession."
Dr Patrick Ngumi said: "The advancement of professional, educational and ethical standards is another shared value between ICPAK and ACCA, and we share a commitment to offering the opportunity for individuals of ability to become professional accountants who will ultimately benefit economies around the world."
ACCA and ICPAK will work together on:
· Capacity building initiatives to promote the sustainable growth of the accountancy profession, exploring pathways to membership of each other’s organisation, driving member growth and supporting the development of the profession.
· Quality support and development opportunities to ICPAK and ACCA members, both practising and non-practising, in a range of areas of mutual interest and expertise including Continuous Professional Development collaboration, incorporating workshops and joint conferences.
· Joint research and policy initiatives with the aim of enhancing the reputation and influence of the profession.
“Ultimately, this agreement will enhance the reputation and influence of both bodies in Kenya and globally,” McEnery said.
Dr Ngumi added: “Our joint expertise will see ACCA and ICPAK using our experience and expertise to identify and conduct initiatives that offer value to our members, supporting the development of the accounting and auditing professions.”
This strategic partnership agreement builds on ACCA’s and ICPAK’s IFAC-sponsored project to develop information and communications technology (ICT) systems, providing guidance on building strong ICT systems for Public Accounting Organisations in Africa.
