President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked aspirants who were defeated by their opponents during the Jubilee party primaries to accept defeat and move on.
He wondered why he was being blamed for their loss yet it was the electorates who made their decisions.
“Why are people blaming me when the voters made their decisions and chose the leaders they want at the nominations?” Uhuru wondered.
Speaking at State House, Tuesday, Uhuru said accepting defeat was a sign of democracy adding that the will of the voters has to be respected.
“Let us accept the decision of the electorate. To me, it is an indication of the level of the entrenchment of democracy in our country and the citizens are enlightened and know that power belongs to them,” he said.
Uhuru’s party concluded its nominations last week with hundreds of aspirants expressing dissatisfaction with the results.
Jubilee Party received over 400 appeals from different aspirants and some opted to vie as independent candidates in the August polls.
