Garissa senator elect Yusuf Haji has pleaded  with poll losers in the just concluded general election to accept defeat and move on.

Senator Haji says that it is not the end of the world for poll losers, adding that there is a next time.

Speaking to journalists after being declared winner of the senate seat on Thursday, Haji said that crying over the election will not help but rather create anxiety and tension in the country.

“I am calling on politicians who lost their seats in the just concluded general election to accept the choices of Kenyans made and move on with life,” he said as quoted by the People daily.

The former defense Minister who was seeking re-election for a second time urged poll losers to work with winners in building the nation.

“We are not enemies, the campaigns and elections have ended and we must embrace each other for our countries prosper,” he added.

Haji appealed to Kenyans to remain calm and peaceful even as they wait for the presidential results to be announced by the IEBC.
