Candidates eyeing various elective positions in Uasin Gishu county have been asked to be ready to accept elections results for the Tuesday's general elections.
According to elders drawn from various communities living in the county, politicians and there supporters must be prepared to accept the will of the people.
Addressing the press at the Teachers Advisory Centre (TAC) in Eldoret town, Friday, the elders led by Mjr (Rtd) John Seii further called for political tolerance among locals."Elections is a one day event that should not lead disruption of unity and peace we are currently enjoying.
We need to avoid provocative statements that might hurt others keeping in mind that this is a multi-political county," Seii said.
"Our politicians need to know that votes are with the people and they should not go into the elections with the mentality that they must win or if not their votes have been stolen," he added.
The elders further advised the youths not to allow themselves to be misused by politicians out to serve selfish interest by causing violence.
They however exuded confidence that elections in the County will be peaceful dismissing institutions that have labeled the county as a political hotspot.
"As elders from various communities in Uasin Gishu we declare that this county is not a hotspot and we condemn any spirit of violence and bloodshed that might be among us," said Alex Mursi, the chairman of Uasin Gishu Kalenjin Council of Elders.
