One passenger died on the spot, while three others sustained severe injuries, after the vehicle they were travelling in got involved in an accident on the Matuu-Garissa road near Kikumini location Masinga Sub-County on Tuesday.
Confirming the unfortunate incident, Kikumini location Chief, Sebastian Mang’ee noted that the vehicle, a probox model, was suspected to have been over speeding before the accident occurred.
“The vehicle might have been at a very high speed because it rolled several times after losing control and veering off the road. It had four people on board including the driver,” said Mang’ee.
According to the chief, the driver, after the accident claimed that he saw a cow, and as he tried to give it way, the vehicle lost control.
“The driver has said that he was trying to escape a cow that was crossing the road, but according to eye witnesses, there was nothing on the road,” said Mang’ee.
The three casualties were transferred to Matuu Level Four Hospital for treatment
Police officers from Masinga Police station took the body of the deceased to Meridian Mortuary, as investigations into the accident kicked off.
