A family at Kikopey, Gilgil is appealing to the Rift valley police boss Mary Omari to intervene and help one of their own who was hit by a speeding motorist last week on Saturday.
Cyrus Ngunjiri, a brother to Stanley Gathekia who is now recuperating at the Rift valley provincial general hospital says that the brother might be denied justice. He says that the owner of the private car is about to have his car released even before the victim records his statement.
“The one who knocked down my brother has never even gone to the hospital to see him. He is just following up on his car to be released without my brother recording his statement first,” said Ngunjiri.
He added: “We are the ones who are taking care of the bill and so far, my brother is yet to begin treatment because the doctor said we have to contribute Sh25,000 shillings before he can treat him. We believe the motorist is conniving with the police to deny us justice.”
Ngunjirir said he was appealing to the traffic boss to assist the family get justice saying the the police are adamant to help because they have said they cannot do anything until his brother recovers and records a statement.
The police and the said motorist could not be reached for comments.
