An MP allied to the ruling Jubilee Party has asked the police to accord opposition chief Raila Odinga adequate security when he returns from the US.Raila has been on an official trip to the US since last week and is expected to jet back into the country on Thursday.The National Super Alliance (NASA) on Sunday announced the coalition will mobilise over a million of its supporters to welcome the former primer.NASA’s plan involves receiving Raila at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport before joining a procession along Mombasa Road that will end at Uhuru Park where Raila will address them.The opposition leader, currently, has no State security following the withdrawal of his bodyguards after the August 8 general election. The security withdrawal followed his call for protests to eject IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba and other commissioners he accuses of bungling the August 8 general election.“Police should give Raila security when he returns from the US. He is a respected statesman who should be given the opportunity to say whatever he has.He should be allowed to speak to his supporters,” said Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny during an interview with KTN.He spoke hours after Nairobi County Police Commander Japheth Koome said police will not allow NASA to hold their Thursday rally at Uhuru Park.Koome said there was a likelihood the gathering will turn chaotic and thus disrupt business in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).NASA has also revealed plans to swear in Rail in case the Supreme Court upholds President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory after the October 26 repeat election.
