An accountant was on Wednesday charged before a Mombasa Court with forgery, fraud and theft of over Sh1 million.

Kevin Ogada was being accused of stealing Sh1,114,315 from Said Mohdhar Transporters Ltd.

The prosecution told the court that the accused person committed the crime between October 2014 and November 2017.

The court further heard that the accused was an employee of Mr. Said Ahmed Abubakar as an accountant.

Mr. Ogada was also accused of allegedly forging a Diamond Trust Bank rubber stamp on July 25, 2017.

The prosecution further told the court that the accused person also issued a Sh222,000 cheque on November 30 with an intention of stealing.

The accused however denied all the charges before the court and filed an application to be released on bail pending the next case hearing.

He was released on a Sh2 million bond.

The case will be mentioned on January 16, 2018.
