At least 800 accounting officers in the Kenyan public service will go through a course that is meant to assist them to deliver services.

The programme, a flagship project of Vision 2030, is meant to equip accounting officers to deliver services more efficiently and avoid common, but troubling mistakes and errors.

Speaking on Tuesday during the official launch of the course at Kenya School of Government, Matuga campus, Ambassador Francis Muthaura said it is a refreshment course.

Muthaura said the course is instrumental in human capacity building and will equip managers with national funds’ planning skills.

“We have to equip resource holders with more knowledge on how we can utilize the little resources we have and achieve development,” he said.

The facilitators of the one-week course were staff from Kenya School of Government and the National Treasury. Muthaura said the course will also enable senior officials to obtain deeper knowledge and understanding of their obligations, perform their duties and enhance their sense of professionalism.

“After this forum we expect the participant to be able to manage relationships with critical agencies and institutions within the public service, manage public resources responsibly and successfully navigate through challenges that emerge in the course of their duties,” he said.
