The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) has gotten a new leader.
Bishop Jackson Ole Sapit of Kericho is the newly elected head and will succeed the outgoing archbishop, Eliud Wabukala who has served the church for seven years.
Bishop Ole Sapit will lead the church in next year’s election despite the current challenges that the country is currently undergoing.
The bishop defeated five other bishops who were contesting for the same position. These were bishops; Lawrence Dena (Malindi), Joel Waweru (Nairobi), Julius Wanyoike (Thika), James Ochiel (South Nyanza), and Moses Masamba (Mbeere).
The bishop will have a lot in his in-tray such as same-sex marriages which are found okay in some parts of the world and totally shunned in Africa.
A great task awaits the church leader and followers are eager to see just how he will work it all out.
Bishop Ole Sapit will be enthroned on July 3, 2016.
