The head of the Anglican Church of Kenya Jackson Ole Sapit has urged the Kenyan government to allow the swearing-in of Raila Odinga to go on as planned by the opposition on Tuesday, January 30.

He also urged Raila Odinga to ensure that his supporters remain peaceful during the ceremony.

''I want to ask the government to allow the swearing-in of Raila Odinga to proceed. The swearing-in does not mean a forceful takeover of government and there should be no fear. I also urge Raila Odinga to ask his supporters to be peaceful and not engage in activities that threaten stability and peace,'' Archbishop Ole Sapit said.

Ole Sapit is the first church leader who has spoken in support of Raila Odinga swearing-in.

By and large, religious leaders have been piling pressure on Raila to abandon his swearing-in plans for the sake of stability.
