Limuru town residents were entertained by two acrobats who displayed their acrobatics and challenged educated, but unemployed youth to create their own source of income.
At the beginning they said, “Nani hao wanasema hakuna kazi? Sisi tuna kazi. Wale watu wanasema hakuna kazi ni wale wako na degree ambao wanagonja waandikwe” (Who is that saying there are no jobs? We have work. Those complaining of unemployment are those degree holders waiting to be employed).
They challenged their audience to stop waiting for white collar jobs, but to be job creators.
The acrobats performed their art at the Limuru town matatu main stage. They started with weight and gravity defying stunts that involved somersaulting, standing on each others knees or head and walking on their hands.
Martin Karanja said, “I was coming to board a bus and decided to watch the hilarious performance. It was a nice end to the day after a hard day at work.”
While Jane Anyango said the acrobats were working hard like anyone else to make a living and should not be criticised or despised.
Although the two acrobats did not divulge their real names, they said they were from Kibera Slum in Nairobi and traveled in different parts of Kenya to entertain and make a living.
