Nyamira County Assembly Deputy Majority Leader James Mating’a now wants Governor John Nyagarama to take action against his County Executive Committee members for what he called ‘sabotage’ of development projects.
Speaking to this reporter on Sunday, Mating’a said the county assembly had been reduced to a ceremonial House because the executives don't implement projects passed by the assembly.
He took a swipe at Roads CeC Ms Janet Komenda accusing her of sabotage and insisted the county governor was losing touch with residents due to incompetence by some of his ministers.
“The governor is losing ground daily just because of his county executive committee members. They are enemies of change and some are busy sabotaging projects passed by the assembly reducing us to a ceremonial house,” he said.
“For instance a large amount of money set on roads will be returned to treasury just because the County executive committee member is incompetent and wants contracts awarded to people who are not her relatives cancelled. Time has come for him to act on such executive members,” he added.
He also accused some of his colleagues of allegedly shielding non-performing executives by receiving bribes to shut down incriminating reports from the Public Accounts Committee.
“As MCAs, some of us are working but the Governor and his failing executives sometimes compromise a number of us to vote out serious findings especially those of PAC like they did in February. The Governor must wake up and save the county by sacking executives who are derailing development,” he said.
