Amos Okili from the Center of Multi-Party and Democracy said that IEBC did not conduct sufficient civic education telling the peoplethe  importance of registering as voters.

Speaking to this writer on Tuesday Mr Okili said a majority of those who did not register did not have information about the whole process.

"Some people up to now, are not aware that voter registration ended on Tuesday. Only IEBC is to blame for this mess as they did not do enough in sensitising the public," said Okili.

Okili said IEBC did not employ the use of the right strategy in ensuring new voters are registered.

"IEBC is not serious about their mandate for this country, it is the work of the Commission to educate people on voter registration, not leaving it to politicians who have interests," added Okili.

Okili said IEBC has had enough time to prepare for this exercise.

He added that, the Issack Hassan led Commission should explain to Kenyans how the money allocated to the exercise was used considering that the target was not reached.

The registration of voters came to an end on Tuesday.
