Boniface says that police officers, National Youth Service personnel, doctors and journalists should not be denied the right to vote in the coming general elections due to their nature of work.

The renowned activist says that if no measures are put in place to facilitate the participation of the said categories of people then their right to vote would be violated.

Boniface lawyer Mr. Victor Kariuki sought the court respond with their claim to seek equal right to vote with the rest of Kenyans who will not go to work on August 8.

“This court is pleased to grant an order compelling the IEBC to provide information on the measures put in place to ensure these categories of people are not deprived of their right to vote due to the nature of their engagements during voting day, pending the hearing and determination of this case,” said Mr. Kariuki.

The Ukweli party chairperson also wants IEBC ordered to immediately put up mechanisms to ensure that the said categories of persons participate in voting.

He says that the IEBC is obliged to make administrative arrangements for the registration of voters and conduct elections in a manner that does not stop the particular job or anyone out from participating in the voting exercise.
