The Kisumu County government is on the spot for not coming up with community policing measures to improve security within the region.
John Joe, a human rights activist has told a forum at the Kisumu social hall that the county government has to incorporate measures like community policing within the region as security starts with an individual.
“Community policing is one of the best methods to check up security ,we need to come up with proper methods of curbing insecurity in the region by starting up better community policing methods,” said Joe.
He added that locals needed improved security and its through community policing that security would be enhanced in the region.
Young women entrepreneurs’ association chairperson Millicent Ogao who attended the function challenged the county government to see community policing work in the region.
The locals need proper security and the county government needed to see devolution work by coming up with community policing strategy with the region.
“It is through community policing that our security could be enhanced, chances to incorporate such policies security would improve a great deal,” said Ogao.
