A political aspirant in Njoro Sub County has asked Kenyans to clean up Parliament and County Assemblies from corruption and redundancy by recalling notorious MPs and MCAs. Boniface Okwiri, a businessman and political activist based in Njoro expressed his anger in the way elected leaders in the country were misusing public office to exercise selfish interests. According to the activist who unsuccessfully contested for the Njoro Ward representative seat in the last general elections, the civil society should create awareness among voters in the country about constitutional provisions that demands for transparency and respect to the rule of law among public office holders. “In order to reclaim sanity in our Parliament and County Assemblies, members of the public should arise and recall corrupt elected leaders. We should not abet the rot in public service because history will judge us harshly,” he said. “We should not sit back and watch a few people mess up with public service that is sponsored by our tax,” added Okwiri. According to the activist, corruption and misuse of public offices was growing from worse to worst and it was high time Kenyans woke up to uphold the law and save public service and ethical standards.
