An activist has moved to court seeking orders to have the Rural Electrification Authority chief executive Ng’ang’a Munyu sent home on the basis that he has hit the retirement age of 60 years.

George Bala has filed a petition at the Employment and Labour Relations Court arguing that Mr Munyu’s three-year contract should be terminated in May when he turns 60.

The Migori resident has anchored his case on a precedent set by Industrial Court judge Nelson Abuodha in November last year which stopped the renewal of Kenya Power CEO Ben Chumo’s term on grounds that he was 60.
