This follows the fading of the crossing, prompting drivers to fail to stop at them, hence causing fatal accidents in the town.

The campaign, dubbed #PaintAZebraCrossing, has seen them put graphic posters in all the zebra crossing.

James Wakibia claims that the county has been using cheap paint to paint the crossing, forcing them to repeat the exercise after a few months.

“It is quickly washed away by rains. Why use cheap and poor quality paint? Why give tenders to people who are doing a shoddy job instead of going for the qualified ones?” he quipped.

Wakibai pointed out that the youth in the county intended to paint the crossing themselves, saying that the county government had demonstrated its inability to deal with the issue.

“It looks like they do not care about the lives that are being ended by careless driving,” he added

Kio Kinuthia called for the installing of CCTV cameras near the crossing so as to nab drivers breaking the rules.

Esther Kimani called on NTSA to spearhead the process, saying that their delay was causing more death from accidents.

“Why leave people maimed or orphans yet a little painting can save so many lives,” she posed.
