Kisii County residents have decried water shortage in the region days after NEMA said water from all water springs in Kisii town is unsafe.
On Tuesday, residents of Jogoo area and vendors lined up to fetch water from a spring in the area saying they will treat before consuming.
"I have customers who I should supply with over 10 containers of 20 liters of water every day. I will apply chlorine before I supply water to clients because I care for their health," said John Omwoyo, a water vendor.
Vane Mbwayo, a resident said they are forced to wake up from 3 am to fetch water at the Jogoo based spring.
"We camp here as from 3 am to fetch water. Vendors are giving us hard time because they come with over 50 jerrycans to fetch water," she said.
Ms Mbwayo said water in the spring comes in drops making them spend hours to fetch water.
"Fetching 5 jerrycans you have to fight with vendors. It is a time the county government should intervene and drill boreholes to help in supplying of plenty water to locals," she added.
