Speaking at Kaptembwo where hundreds of residents gathered with water containers, they lamented that they have been forced to walk long distances to get water and sometimes they miss to get it.

"We walk long distances, over 7 kilometres looking for water. Sometimes we go very far. And then we return without any water," said Ruth Njeri, a resident.

Her sentiments were also echoed by another area resident Jackson Temwa, who lamented that for the last three weeks, residents have been walking back home without water after waking up 5 AM and queuing up the whole day.

The residents said that the problem arose because of the preparations for the annual Agricultural Show in the County which will take place in July, saying that water was being reserved by the government for the event.

The residents are now calling on the Nakuru Water and Sanitation Services Company (NAWASCO) and the government to address the issue and provide a lasting solution.
