Nyamira Senator has challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to exhaustively address the Eurobond controversy to end the political tensions in the country.
This comes a day after the opposition led by Raila Odinga accused the government of collaborating with the Central Bank of Kenya to conceal the mystery of alleged misappropriation of over Sh140 billion.
In his official WhatsApp group on Friday, Mong’are blamed the President for not being ‘proactive’ and called for a detailed report from his office.
“I want to challenge the President to come forth and address the Eurobond saga. We are experiencing political tensions just because he is ignoring the critical questions being raised by the opposition,” Mong’are said.
“So far, no government department has been able to address the concern soberly, but instead the Jubilee side is politicising even sensitive issues such as matters economy. The President must now be proactive to handle such critical issues,” added the Senator.
He said the Head of State and his team should highlight the projects which benefited from over Sh250 billion to ‘clear’ the air on the matter which he deemed detrimental to the economy of the nation.
“As the opposition what we want to see are tangible projects which were serviced by the Eurobond proceeds because the loan will be serviced by the people of Kenya. Let him show us the projects from which we will be satisfied,” said the Ford Kenya Senator.
“We are all fighting graft and it’s important to approach the issue from a bi partisan point so that we safeguard public resources and the matter should be addressed by detailed response from Sate House,” he said.
