The government has been urged to address the plight of about 33,000 candidates who scored grade E in the recently released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.

Kisii Catholic Diocese bishop Joseph Mairura said there was a need to assist the students obtain vocational training to assist them to become resourceful citizens noting that if left on their own they could easily become destructive due to frustrations. 

“It is now up to the government to absorb them into vocational institutions,” he said. 

He further called upon parents to stop lamenting about their children's results and instead guide them to the next step. 

The clergy spoke at Cathedral Church during the New Year mass on Monday.
