Nairobi senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko has asked president Uhuru Kenyatta to address the increasing price of maize flour in the country.

Speaking at Uhuru Park grounds, Nairobi, Monday, during Labour Day celebrations, the Jubilee senator asked Uhuru not to let Kenyans die of hunger because of the increasing prices of food which most Kenyans cannot afford.

“You are a president who cares about the welfare of Kenyans. And I know you have Kenyans at heart. Mr. President, let me be the first leader in your government to beg you, please look at the price of flour that has gone up,” Sonko said.

“You and your government have already done a good job to the farmers by giving them free seeds and fertilisers. But you have to look at the peoples' stomachs so that they cannot die of hunger,” he added.

The price of maize flour has continued rising despite Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich affirmation, that, it would drop when he read the FY 2017/2018 budget.
