Speaking to the press at Nakuru town Thursday, Good Governance, a civil rights group chairperson Moses Gitonga said that cases of police killing themselves have been on the rise.

“The cases are worrying and paint a negative picture of the police force. We want the government to address the rising suicide cases among police officers,” he said.

Gitonga attributed the deaths to poor working environment, poor pay and frustrations from the police bosses which results to depression.

“There is urgent need for the government to address challenges facing the police sector,” he said.

Gitonga lashed out at the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) for failing to spearhead reforms that were to address challenges facing the police.
