Jubilee government has come under scathing attack from an aspiring MP from Kitutu Masaba over delayed construction of two major highways in the region.
Victor Ogeto’s criticism comes slightly over two weeks after President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto cancelled a last minute trip to the constituency over security concerns.
Speaking to the reporter, Ogeto faulted the president over Metamaywa-Mosobeti and Kemera-Amabuko roads which are reportedly being constructed on a slow pace despite complaints from area residents.
“I am really disappointed that the President can come to Gusii and fail to address these two major roads that have been under construction for a long time. He was made aware of the frustrations and it’s sad that he could not spare his time to tell us about the delayed construction,” he said.
“The president didn’t give a satisfactory explanation either when he appeared on an interview with Egesa FM. Jubilee must wake up and put such roads in order because it’s our right as Masaba residents to get good services,” he added.
Ogeto said the roads have been major impediment to social-economic transformation in the region, saying locals were unable to transport their agricultural produce in time hence going through loses.
“The only favour the president can do for us is ensuring construction is expedited. That is the worth thing to do because we need the roads for easy transportation. Otherwise as leaders, we will continue pushing the government to work for people,” he added.
