Thika United staged a thrilling comeback to beat Sofapaka 2-1 in a Kenyan Premier League match played on Sunday in Thika.
Edmond Adem scored a late goal to give his team a win despite Sofapaka dominating the match,l which was staged at Thika Municipal Stadium.
Sofapaka’s Kepha Aswani scored the first goals two minutes into the second half after receiving a headed pass from Stephen Waruru sending fans into Jubilee.
Thika United leveled the scored ten minutes later after they were given a spot-kick following a foul play by goalkeeper Mathis Kigonya. Hansel Ochieng.
Mata Masakidi brilliantly netted the goal, proving Kigonya wrong. Eight minutes to the end of the tantalizing match, Edmond Adem header beat Kigonya giving the team three points.
This is the first win the team has registered in this season. Elsewhere Gor Mahia beat Supersport United 1-0 in Machakos as the team looks forward to better results.
In the Kenya Premier League, Vihiga United drew with Chemelil Sugar 1-1 while Mathare United beat Tusker FC 1-0. Sony also drew with Kariobangi 2-2.
