The immediate former Fafi legislator Aden Sugow is the only contestant that has so far announced his bid to face off with the incumbent Yusuf Haji in the 2017 Garissa senatorial race.
The news emerged on Monday when Aden launched a scathing attack that was directed to senator Haji, saying Garissa residents are tired of misrepresentation at the senate.
Aden revealed that he was very much prepared to live up to the expectations of Garissa County residents, reiterating that a stronger oversight role is what the county badly needed.
“We must make sure that all we have is an effective oversight to effectively ensure that the resource coming to our county is given to the citizens who deserve it," Aden said.
He said contrary to news making round, he was still in the senatorial race and that he was very busy selling his manifesto to the constituents.
“I am still vying for the senatorial seat. I will be contesting and we shall unite alongside people who we share the similar political ideology and vision,” the retired major said.
