Nairobians naturally fear and abhor black cats since they associate with bad omen.

However, the Kenya Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (KSPCA) based in Karen has ruled out such weird perception about the black cats as a myth and misconception.

They emphasised the need for Nairobians to understand what makes the cats black before passing inconclusive judgment.

The society exemplified that the black colour is as a result of a recessive gene.

“Black cats bring prosperity according to the Scottish. They are the most fun to play hide-and-seek with and appreciate to be loved,” they said.

The organisation revealed that black cats were not appreciated by many people; therefore they are half as likely to be adopted compared to cats of other colours and attributed this to superstition.
