AFC Leopards’ poor season in 2017 was summed up after none of their players was picked as contenders for the KPL sports awards.
None of the players was on the list, after yet another poor showing in the league, where they finished a distant 8, 29 points adrift of winners and bitter rivals Gor Mahia.
According to their Chairman Dan Mule, the team did not deserve to be included in the list of winners, owing to their poor form.
“Last season was not our best, we were poor in almost all the departments and that is why we ended up finishing in a not so good position. So, yes, we did not deserve to be in the list, there are teams that did better than us and their players are well placed to win,” he said as quoted by Futaa.
He added: “This season we are better equipped to do well, and by the end of the season things will definitely be better,”
Out of the twelve categories that are on offer, none of AFC Leopards players made it into the list.
The awards night did not go as expected by many though, with one player Michael Madoya scooping four awards.
No Gor Mahia player won any award, despite winning the league.
