The Kenya Premier League side announced on Sunday that Odera lost his mum after a long battle with cancer.

Interestingly, his mother died shortly after the star opened the scoring in the club's 0-2 win over Sony Sugar FC in a match played at Awendo Green Stadium.

The club said Awuor passed on after being admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital, and that the family has a huge task of clearing a hospital bill of Sh240,000 at East and Central Africa's largest referral hospital.

"As we celebrate our 0-2 win over Sony Sugar FC at Awendo Green Stadium we are sad to announce the death of Mary Dinah Awour Omulo mother to Ezekiel Odera Omulo who scored our first goal," the club said on its official Facebook page.

"She had been admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital for over a year fighting cancer, staying in Umoja 2 and has an accrued bill of Sh240,000. May her soul rest in peace. Letus pray and support Ezekiel in this trying and hard moment."

Most fans of the club took time to send condolence messages to the Ingwe forward telling him all will be well.
