AFC Leopards midfielder Collins ‘Gattuso’ Okoth has once again found himself on the spot after he threatened to kill a sports journalist for ‘defaming’ him.
The player is said to have been angered by a story that was done by Seth Onserio, who writes for Goal.com.
The journalist reported that Gatusso skipped a number of training sessions with his club, and was seen enjoying time with Gor Mahia players and fans.
This happened before the Leopards met Gor in the Super Cup derby match, a match that K’Ogalo won 1-0. The story did not sit well with the midfielder, who sent chilling text messages to Onserio.
In the texts, as seen by the Nairobian, Gatusso writes that he will kill a journalist one day and warns the journalist to stay away from him.
“One day, like seriously, I will kill someone from (the) media; trust me on this,” the text read.
In another of his texts to Onserio, he wrote: “Nitanyamaza kama mjinga niwache kucheza league ya Kenya then ule atanifuata tena I will sacrifice him or her. I swear to God wacha saizi kama mjinga sitabonga na na anyone no matter what but ‘just one day’,” he threatened.
The journalist has however defended his actions, saying he was only doing his duty as a journalist. He moved to Imara Police Post and reported the matter for fear of his life after the chilling texts.
“I contacted my sources at the club (AFC Leopards) and I was told of what was going on there. That’s what I reported, simple as that. I was shocked to later receive death threats from the player,” he said.
