2018 Gotv Champions AFC Leopards have suspended head coach Robert Matano.
Matano has been suspended for one match, and will hence miss this weekend’s Kenya Premier League (KPL) match against Sony Sugar.
The suspension comes after Leopards lost 1-2 to Sofapaka in a KPL match played at the Narok County Stadium on Wednesday.
Assistant Coach Dennis Kitambi will be on the touchline when Ingwe face Sony Sugar.Oscar Igaida who is AFC Leopards official revealed that Matano has not been fired, and will appear before a disciplinary committee next Tuesday.
“People are saying that Matano has been fired. He’s not. He’s been asked to step aside for Sony Sugar match,” Igaida is quoted by Goal.com
"There were complains on how he handled the match against Fosa Juniors at home and away, and current performances of the team. There are many issues that I cannot reveal to you, but they can hurt the team in the long run,” he added.
AFC Leopards was recently bundled out of the CAF Confederations Cup by Madagascar’s Fosa Juniors. The team is also not performing well in the League this season.
The team has played three matches in the league this season, won one, drawn one and lost one.Ingwe drew against Posta Rangers and beat Ulinzi Stars before losing to Sofapaka.
