GOtv-Shield champions AFC Leopards will play against Fosa Juniors of Madagascar to Kenyatta Stadium during their first leg CAF Confederation Cup fixture. According to the clubs chairman, the decision was reached because of the cash crisis facing the team.

The new development comes after Sportpesa announced the withdrawal of all the local sponsorships. Mule said that the club is not in a position to fund the CAF inspector visit to the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County ahead of the match.“We received a communication yesterday from CAF, that we need to facilitate for an Inspector to tour the facility in western Kenya before the stadium can be sanctioned. That might not be possible considering the cash crises at the den,” said Mule. The decision to play in Machakos is considered by the club as a cheaper option as the management struggles with the financial woes. Earlier on, Machakos governor Dr. Alfred Mutua announced the lifting a three-year ban imposed against Gor Mahia Football club. The club agreed to pay the county government a Sh1 million token for the damages caused by the fans following chaos.
