AFC Leopards on Saturday showed their fighting spirit to come from three goals down and win in an exciting encounter against Mathare United.
The resurgent Ingwe won the match 4-3 in emphatic fashion, subsequently ending Mathare’s unbeaten start to the new season.
The win, the second in as many matches lifted the Leopards to the third spot in the standings, giving caretaker coach Dennis Kitambi a result he would have dreamed of.
Ingwe went down in the eighth minute after Cliff Nyakeya punished poor defending to send the hosts in front.
Leopards hit back 10 minutes later, with Brian Marita leveling matters. However, that did not last long as Francis Omondi gave the home side the second goal from the spot after Isaac Oduro was said to have been brought down in the box.
Nyakeya grabbed his brace minutes later but hardly had their celebrations died down when Duncan Otieno made it 3-2 to cap a first half filled with scintillating action.
The boys from the Den came back a rejuvenated side in the second half, with Ezekiel Odera pulling his side level in the 60th minute.
Marvin Nabwire was the hero of the day when he stepped up with 13 minutes to go to give the visitors the fourth goal, which proved the match winner.
The match ended on the wrong foot for Ingwe when Oduro was shown a red card late on for a second bookable offense, but they held on for the win.
In other fixtures, Ulinzi danger man Masita Masuta scored in the last minute of regular play to give the soldiers a 1-0 win against Kakamega Homeboys at the Bukhungu Stadium.
The win lifted Ulinzi to the fourth spot.
