AFC Leopards’ near-perfect start to the current Kenya Premier League season seems to have hit a snag, after their latest fumbles.
The team had four consecutive wins, but has struggled in their last three matches, and risk undoing the good work they put at the start of the season.
If they lose this weekend’s match against Bandari away in Mombasa, Ingwe will drop from the top five on the log standings.
The team has managed to only garner two points from their three last fixtures, and their course has not been helped by a leaking defense, which has shipped in 14 goals in their last six fixtures.
In their last fixture, AFC were destined for a win against Zoo Kericho, but conceded carelessly and settle for a 2-2 draw.Goalkeeper Jairus Adira’s and the entire defense led by Dennis Sikhayi and Robinson Kamura were faulted for the two goals conceded.
Team Coach Dennis Kitambi lifted some pressure off his boys, saying the team will be back much stronger in the next fixture.
“We should also learn to defend the balls especially the aerial ones. A defender needs courage to stop them and that is what we missed. It was a great match, but we did not get the result that we wanted,” Kitambi said when he spoke to the media.
