After opening the Mt Kenya and North Eastern Regional headquarters in Nyeri, Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore has said that African Heads of States have seen the impact that M-PESA has created in the Kenyan society and would like other countries to experience the same.

According to Collymore, the expansion will increase the profit margin by a huge percentage.

The fifth headquarters will be the center of operations for Mt Kenya and North Eastern Region serving customers from 17 counties including Marsabit, Samburu and Garissa. The mobile operator started implementing its regional strategy two years ago, a move that has seen services previously offered at Nairobi decentralised to six regions.

“Decentralising our services through Mt Kenya and North Eastern will enable us to be closer to our customers in the 17 counties and give a better understanding of customer needs," said Collymore.
