Speaking on Tuesday after a conference attended by Kenya and Venezuela officials in Nairobi, the CCM party leader said President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto used most of their time since they were elected three years ago in dealing with the cases that faced them at the Hague based court, the ICC.

“I would say they have performed to 30 per cent, because for sure they have spent most of their time in dealing with the ICC, rather than focusing on development agenda,” Koigi said.

On the issue of whether Kenya should pull out of the Rome Statue that forms the ICC, Koigi opposed the move saying: “As a victim of impunity and dictatorship in Kenya, I wouldn’t want to see my country being governed by leaders who are above the law”.

“Without ICC, African leaders will be untouchable, they won’t listen to anyone, and no one will dare remove them from power. That will be a big tragedy,” he warned.
